The Default State or Default Position is an individual’s natural at-best operating position. It is the core platform of the Human Operating System and one of the three essential states for optimal self-operation. It is experienced as a state of rest and readiness. In the Default Position, a person’s

body-brain will precipitate the various chemicals that create the at-best, at-rest state. In this state they are available to a high quantity and high quality of information, ready to act and respond optimally to whatever the situation demands.

The Default Position is the way a person is when they have let go of everything and just Are…the way they were born to be.

When you’re in your Default – you’ll have “locked in” the muscular and sensory configuration that is the base for the experience(s) that gurus like Ken Wilbur, Ram Das, and Eckhart Tolle are talking about. What’s revolutionary – or more aptly, what’s evolutionary about this concept is that the Default State is something that’s somatically based. It is a very specific, “measurable” and recognizable configuration. While the profile or configuration of the Default State is idiosyncratic and personal to every individual, there are general traits held in most individuals across cultures.

Before traumatic imprints are taken, the Default State is the most natural configuration of an individual.

History

The Default State is a based Dr. Joseph Riggio’s Mythoself Process where it is called the Generalized Desired State or GDS. The GDS is based on Roye Frasier’s Generative Imprint.

There are two basic biases an individual can have as they orient themselves in the world – inhibitory and excitatory. A person with an inhibitory bias sorts for and notices the problems and limitations of the situation. A person with an excitatory bias sorts for and notices the possibilities and potential. Neither of them are True, both of them bias the system. While still able to notice problems, a person with a baseline excitatory bias is naturally healthier and more potent.

You were born perfect, metaphorically drop shipped from the factory with a flawless human operating system, just like a brand new computer. But we live in a culture that simply does not understand how to grow a healthy, happy, well-functioning human, which is why our parents, our schools, and our media have unintentionally riddled our Human Operating Systems with behavioral viruses. The evidence of this is that the majority of us are stuck in some sort of discontent. And it’s almost impossible to recognize because nearly everyone is.
